ACS Foundation supported a comprehensive Health Screening Programme for 250 children at Lamington School, Hubballi, as part of its commitment to promoting health awareness, preventive care and early identification of health concerns among children.
The programme was conducted with the support of Dr. Varsha Bangarshettar from Ashoka Multi-Specialty and Eye Hospital, whose expertise and support contributed to the eye screening component of the initiative.
The programme included blood grouping, eye check-ups and dental check-ups, providing children with an opportunity to learn about the importance of regular health screening and maintaining good eye and dental health.
Key Findings
The screening programme resulted in several significant observations:
250 children underwent health screening and blood grouping.
70 children were found to have eye-related concerns during the screening and were advised appropriate follow-up.
38 children were found to have dental caries and were advised further dental care.
5 children were identified as having rare blood groups.
These findings reinforce the importance of accessible and regular health screening for school-going children. Early identification of potential health concerns can help families seek timely professional advice and appropriate care.
Creating Awareness Among Children
Beyond the screenings, the initiative focused on creating awareness among children about the importance of knowing their blood group and taking care of their eye and dental health.
Awareness about one's blood group can also be valuable during medical emergencies, where having this information readily available can help save time when appropriate medical support is required.
ACS Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Rajnikanth for sponsoring the blood grouping reagents required for all 250 students. His support helped enable the blood grouping component of the programme.
Strengthening Community Health
Through initiatives such as this, ACS Foundation continues to support community-focused programmes that contribute to health, education, awareness and overall wellbeing, particularly among children and underserved communities.
ACS Foundation expresses its gratitude to Lamington School, Dr. Varsha Bangarshettar and the team from Ashoka Multi-Specialty and Eye Hospital, Mr. Rajnikanth, healthcare professionals, volunteers and all supporters who contributed to the successful implementation of the programme.
